The Design Development Option (DDO) was established by the City of Tucson to provide an administrative process by which specific development and dimensional standards of the Unified Development Code may be modified under certain criteria applicable to a land use within a zone.
When one applies for a City of Tucson Development Services DDO, neighbors and the Neighborhood Association are given an opportunity to comment and to recommend approval or disapproval of the request. The Board asks the applicants to present the DDO to the Board or Land Use Committee so that we clearly understand the request, can provide a position, and answer any questions that neighbors may ask. It is also good to talk to your neighbors directly. The opinion of the adjacent neighbors provides our most important decision making context.
Email the Land Use Committee to arrange a presentation or conversation.
